We’ll be happy to give you some examples of prices, but it’s important to realize that it is impossible to tell you exactly what your repair will cost before we have given your computer a thorough checkout. Anyone who tells you they can guarantee a price up front without looking at your computer is absolutely lying to you…and we won’t do that, ever.
Our policy is: no surprises when the bill comes. So our standard procedure is to do a full diagnostic on every machine. The diagnostic fee is $40 plus tax; for that, we’ll put your machine on a bench and figure out exactly what is wrong and what it would take to fix it. We’ll price out the parts if needed and call you with not an estimate, but an exact quote for you to approve before we proceed with the repair. If you elect to proceed, the diagnostic fee is applied to the repair; if you decide not to fix it, you owe us forty bucks for checking it out.
One other brief sales pitch before we get to numbers. Realize that in every repair we do, our first and foremost priority is always to protect and preserve your personal data. If you are shopping around a repair job, be sure to ask about that. Unlike many of our competitors, we won’t lose your stuff. ’nuff said?
Okay…for the sake of those who shop prices, here are “the rates”:
Hourly labor rate: $70. Most hardware repair labor jobs are an hour or less for desktop computers, 1-2 hours for laptops.
Onsite service: $90 is the walk-in; that covers the first hour, $90 per hour after and we do split that into quarter-hours.
We do lots of virus cleanups. Usually we can clean them up and remove them for two hours’ labor, or $140. But the only way to guarantee that all the bugs are gone from a computer is a full erase and reload. We charge a flat rate of $210 for that service; that includes a full data backup, reloading all your software, re-emplacing your data, and retrieving all drivers, patches and updates. We’ll add an antivirus program if you need it, and we’ll install a few more anti-spyware tools to help you keep from getting re-infected.
We are frequently asked to save data from old computers, or transfer data to new computers. Typically, that is a one hour job, or $70. If you have multiple profiles on your computer, or if your drive is bad, it could be more and sometimes is significantly more. But a simple data save or transfer is flat-rated at $70.
Other typical repairs, for desktops:
Power supply $100
Hard-drive replacement, with data saved $280-300, much less if no data save
Memory upgrade $70 plus parts
For laptops:
Screen repair/replacement $70 plus parts
Memory upgrade $70 plus parts
DVD drive replacement $130-150
DC power jack repair $210
(NOTE: All prices are subject to 4.167% Hawaii General Excise Tax.)
Our prices for parts are very competative, and all hardware we sell is covered by our great warranty. We are also happy to install customer-supplied parts but cannot assume warranties for parts we don’t sell.
